Two New Maine Campus Articles

Two articles published in today's issue of The Maine Campus:
It seems there are few funnymen challenging comedian Bob Marley for his title of “Maine’s King of Comedy,” and for good reason — Marley is one of the best from any state. He proved that on Saturday night in his side-splitting standup performance at the Collins Center for the Arts, as part of his “Laugh Wicked HAAHD” tour.

The majority of Minsky Recital Hall’s 276 seats were occupied Oct. 7 for the Dance Department’s fundraising effort, “Emerging Dance – Minute To Win It.”
“We’ve done this event for years, before [dancer and co-emcee Molly Roberts] and I were even freshmen here,” said dancer and co-emcee Nicole Sanfacon.

YouTube VOTW (October 15, 2010)

You walk, right?

Oh, not you, sorry sir.

As a walker, you know that it's not a very demanding endeavor... unless you do it like the Japanese.  This week's VOTW, featured on Neatorama about a month ago, is from a precision walking competition.  If Japan supposedly has some of the world's most advanced technology, why are they wasting their time with this?  I'll tell you: because it's balls-to-the-wall awesome.

(I also just posted a new CD review on StuffToListenTo, so go have a look.)

YouTube VOTW (October 8, 2010)

How many of you grew up watching the show with talking produce pushing positive values?  If you have, you know that I'm talking about Veggie Tales.  Featuring Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber, this direct-to-VHS series, which eventually starting airing on television, takes up a good portion of my childhood nostalgia.

Thanks to LionsgateMovies, we are able to watch the entire "Jonas: A Veggie Tales Movie" on YouTube! Take 83 minutes out of your day and enjoy.

I am unable to embed the video here, so you'll have to go watch it on YouTube.

My First Newspaper Article

My Neil Young CD review was published in today's issue of The Maine Campus, check it out here.  From now on, I'll post CD reviews in the other blog, StuffToListenTo, so check in on that every now and then (or everyday if you want to, that won't bother me).

YouTube VOTW (October 1, 2010)

Jason Williams, known to relatively new NBA fans as the backup point guard for the Miami Heat and most recently the Orlando Magic.  Whenever I think of him, I see the explosive, flashy young combo of Pete Maravich and AND1 Mixtapes that he was with Sacramento and Memphis.  As Jason matured, so did his game, which meant goodbye to a lot of the flair embedded into his play.

A video editor who goes by Yinka Dare made this highlight reel of him a long time ago: I remember downloading it from Limewire as a much younger kid and watching it over and over on my Windows 98 PC in the basement.  Take a walk down my memory lane in this week's VOTW.

(Observe the sequence at around 1:22, when he embarrases some Heat player, then in another play toasts Gary "The Glove" Payton, one of the finest defenders the league has ever seen.  Also, be careful kids, the song does contain a fair amount of expletives.)
